NSC - Crew Bank 2012
|
Postings from previous sailing seasons have been removed.
All Skippers and Crew are asked to re-register at the beginning of a new sailing season. For reference only, here is the Last Year Crew Bank List. |
This facility is to help both skippers and crews racing or cruising on Lac Deschênes and vicinity to find each other. Please feel free to call or email anyone on the list below.
To add to this list or to modify an existing entry, please use the online crewbank form. There is also a list on the notice board in the club. They may not always be synchronized!
For the racing schedule see the racing calendar.
Skippers Looking For CrewThere are many skilled and interested potential crew below, for weekend and week night racing and cruising, both dinghy and keel. Keep checking this list! Why not try posting your requirement? Some may be searching for a boat, but don't want to post here.
Crew Looking For BoatIf you don't get a call, and you want to race on a keel boat, you can try waiting by the entrance to the floating docks between 5.00 and 5.45pm on race night (especially Tuesdays and Thursdays) and ask skippers walking to their boat if they need any extra crew to replace no-shows.
The gun for the first race is usually at 6.15, so boats leave the docks by 5.45 or soon after. Get an idea of the racing format by weeknight in the Sailing Instructions.
Dinghy skippers will not usually come to the club if they don't have pre-arranged crew, but you can ask around at the dry sail area when they are coming in after a race on Wednesday nights if they know of anyone looking for crew for next week.
Alternatively, come to the bar one night after racing (the boats usually start coming in after 8pm), and ask around. You might find a boat looking for your help and skills the following week, or for a weekend race or cruise. At the very least, you will find a happy and noisy crowd, and some great barbecued food and beer.
Remember to bring non-marking shoes, and your own foul-weather gear and life-jacket (if you don't have one, the skipper may be able to lend you one: ask).
If you plan to crew regularly, and you aren't already one, you should become a member. Check out our lower rates, no initiation fee. The Fee calculator will help you figure it out.
