CYA National Race Officer / Senior National Race Officer Seminar

The Canadian Yachting Association is pleased to announce an NRO/SNRO Race Management Seminar hosted by Nepean Sailing Club (NSC) in Ottawa, Ontario, May 29 through 31, 2009.

Dates and times:

Friday, May 29:  0830-1700 hours
Saturday, May 30:  0830-1700 hours
Sunday, May 31:  0830-1600 hours

Who should attend:

CROs or NROs intending to apply for their NRO or SNRO certification within the next two years.  Successful completion of the seminar will be a prerequisite for first-time applicants for NRO or SNRO certification.

Cost and Registration:

$125.00 cdn.  Includes all seminar materials, a copy of the CYA Race Management Manual (2009-2012 edition), continental breakfast and lunch all three days.

A no-host, welcome dinner will be held at NSC on Friday at 1800 hours.

Interested race officers should register no later than May 14, 2009.
Registration is limited to 30 participants. 

There is already significant local interest in this seminar.  If capacity is reached applicants may be restricted based on their level of certification or the estimated timing of their application for NRO or SNRO certification.

Additional Information:

Attendees are expected to bring a copy of the Racing Rules of Sailing (2009-2012).  A limited number of copies will be available for sale at the NSC office.  Please indicate to Julie Lafromboise your intent to purchase a copy from NSC.

NSC is located at 3259 Carling Avenue in Ottawa, Ontario.  NSC is approximately 12 km from the Ottawa airport, 18 km from the Ottawa Via Rail station and 3 minutes from the 416/417 junction.
There are a number of hotels nearby to accommodate attendees.

In addition, a number of local race officers have offered to billet out-of-town attendees.  Contact David Searle to arrange billeting.
