NSC - Regatta Organization Workshop

Organizing and operating a quality regatta requires significant planning and co-ordination.

In an effort to enhance the skills of potential regatta chairs and regatta committee members, NSC’s Fleet Committee sponsored a workshop covering a number of aspects of successfully running an event.

These dowload links to the outlines and/or speaking notes of the presenters will assist any regatta organizers in ensuring all aspects of the event are addressed leading to a high quality regatta experience. Each presenter focused on one key aspect and then all presenters addressed the issue of marketing the event in a panel.

  1. Greg Dargavel presented the Regatta Organizing Team (a Powerpoint file);
  2. The Budgeting Process (an Powerpoint file) and a Budgeting Template (an Excel file) were presented by Christine Winiarz Searle;
  3. Sylvie Kitching described a successful process for Recruiting Sponsorships (a MS Doc file);
  4. A broad look at the Off Water Support Team (a Powerpoint file) was outlined by Tom Winlow;
  5. David Searle examined the organizers’ relationship with the Race Officer and Race Committee (a Powerpoint file);
  6. The presenters’ panel and participants developed some key Marketing Strategies (a MS Doc file).

Participants at the event gave strong positive feedback to these ideas. May they be useful in YOUR regatta organizing efforts!
