Long Distance Races -- Finish Procedures and Submission of Finish Times

Boats should submit elapsed time (from the start signal) to avoid any errors due to either or both the racer and the RC not being synchronized to a reliable standard (an observed problem). Boats may synchronize their watches to a reliable time source such as GPS, NRC (tel 613-745-1576), CBC Radio, etc.

Boats shall e-mail their elapsed time to. NSC-BYC-LD-Results (NSC-BYC-LD-Results at nsc dot ca) no later than midnight on the Monday immediately following the race. Skippers seeking points for DNF shall also use this format to notify the scorer. Skippers or their representative shall include the following information:

  • Event Name:
  • Boat Name:
  • Elapsed Time and/or Start and Finish Times (note any assumptions about NRC time):
  • Skipper Name:
  • Boat Type:
  • Sail Number:
  • Specify PHRF (i.e. rated with a spinnaker) or JAM:
Boats are also requested, though not required, to submit the following information:
  • Boat Immediately Ahead:
    • Boat Name:
    • Sail Number:
    • Approximate time ahead:
  • Boat Immediately Behind:
    • Boat Name:
    • Sail Number:
    • Approximate time behind:
  • Any other relevant information or comments:

It is recommended that the above list be cut & paste into your e-mail message.
