Note | Skipper: Elizabeth Pattey crew: John Przybytek Thomas Krodel Comments: We did Armitage race upriver and race back to complete Jacques Adam challenge. We started with other competitors at 11:05. Passed Blueberry, we continued on the same heading a bit longer so that we could launch the spinnaker. We did so for a few minutes until the spinnaker halyard broke. We had to bring back a fully wet spinnaker on board and continued the race white sail. As competitors had their spinnaker, we could not perform as we should have...Oh well! we had fun racing anyway. After crossing the Armitage finish line, we made sure we passed Port of Call and QC imaginary line and went back to S, mostly close haul. Back at the club we parked in front of the balcony and Eric (Kit's husband) lent us a fishing line so that we could use it as a messenger to put back the spinnaker halyard in place through the mast. I felt lucky to have the halyard repaired so fast. This was the first sail up to Port of Call for Thomas and for my J/22: so we fueled the spirit of Jacques Adam Challenge. |
