1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 All participants shall comply with the CYA Code of Behaviour.
2 ADVERTISING
Advertising will be restricted to Category A.
3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 Open to boats of the 420 class.
3.2 Open to participants who represent a member club or organization in good standing with Ontario Sailing and who are 16 years of age or under as of December 31, 2008.
3.3 A maximum of twenty-four entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
4 FEES
Fee is to be determined by Ontario Sailing. Teams shall register on-line at the Ontario Sailing website (www.ontariosailing.ca).
5 SCHEDULE
5.1 Boat check-in: Wednesday morning, August 13 at NSC.
5.2 Rules and Team Racing seminars: Wednesday afternoon, August 13 at NSC.
5.3 On-Water Practice/Team Racing Demonstration: Thursday morning, August 14
5.4 Dates of racing: Thursday, August 14 through Saturday August 16
5.5 The maximum number of races is 20.
5.6 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the demonstration team racing event on Thursday, August 14 is 1030. The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on Thursday, August 14 is 1300. No new Warning Signal will be made after 1630 on Thursday.
The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on Friday, August 15 is 1030. No new Warning Signal will be made after 1630 on Friday.
The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on Saturday August 16 is 1030. No new Warning Signal will be made after 1400 on Saturday.
6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available after 1200 on Wednesday, August 13 at the Check-in Desk at NSC. Charts depicting the racing area and courses will be available with the Sailing Instructions. Draft Sailing Instructions will be available at the Ontario Sailing website (www.ontariosailing.ca) after June 15, 2008.
7 PENALTY SYSTEM
Rules 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that only one turn, including one tack and one gybe, is required.
8 SCORING
8.1 The Low Point System of Appendix A will apply. RRS A4.1 table is modified to read 0.75 points for first place in Low Point System.
9 SUPPORT AND COACH BOATS
9.1 Coach boats will be allowed in the Racing Area during Racing, but shall not interfere with nor communicate with boats which are Racing.
9.2 All support and coach boats shall be registered with the regatta and shall be marked with a yellow shape distributed at check in.
10 VENUE
Racing:
Races will be held on Lac Deschenes as close as practical to the NSC Harbour.
Accommodations:
Competitors will be housed in the Ontario Summer Games Athlete's Village. For friends and families, several hotels/motels are within 10 minutes driving of NSC. Directions to NSC, and links to local hotels, can be found at the NSC website (www.nsc.ca).
Food Services:
Competitor meals will be provided by Ontario Summer Games. Families and friends can purchase lunch and dinner in the NSC Members' Lounge.
11 BERTHING
Boats shall be kept in their assigned places in the boat park at NSC.
12 PRIZES
Ontario Summer Games Medals will be awarded to the top 3 boats.
13 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
