1. RULES

OYSTR races will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing, the prescriptions of the Canadian Yachting Association, respective class rules, and the OYSTR Sailing Instructions. Rule 41 will be amended to allow on course coaching by coaches registered with the regatta chair and showing required identification on coach boats.

2. ELIGIBILITY

Entrants must be 18 years of age or under and have prior sailing experience. No prior racing experience is needed.

3. CLASSES

There will be starts for the following classes: Open Bic, Pico, Laser Radial and 420.

4. ENTRY FEE

The fee is $45 per competitor and includes a regatta T-shirt, lunch Saturday and Sunday, and dinner Saturday. After registering on-line, competitors are asked to call the club and pay their entry fee by Visa or Mastercard. Competitors may also pay during on-site registration by cheque, Visa, MasterCard, debit or cash. Cheques should be payable to the Nepean Sailing Club. The preferred option for payment of the damage deposit for charter boats is by cheque; assuming no damage to the boat, these cheques will be returned at the end of the regatta.

5. BOAT CHARTER

A limited number of Nepean Sailing Club training boats, are available to participants. Optimists and Open Bics are available for charter for $30 for the regatta, 420s are available at $50. A $100 damage deposit is also required when chartering boats; this will be returned at the end of the regatta if there is no damage to the boat. Charter boats will be reserved on a first come first served basis for pre-registered competitors, and will be allotted by lottery on Friday, August 24th.

6. REGISTRATION

Competitors are asked to register on-line at nsc.ca/oystr. On-site registration will take place at the Nepean Sailing Club on Friday, August 24th, from 17:00 - 19:00 and Saturday, August 25, from 8:00 - 9:15.

7. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Friday, August 24th

19:00 - 19:45 OYSTR coaching seminar for all racers at the Youth Centre.

Saturday, August 25th

08:00-09:30 Boat rigging.

09:30 Competitors meeting.

10:30 Warning flag race #1.

Lunch on the water at the call of the RC.

17:00 - 19:00 Dinner & Draw for door prizes.

Sunday, August 26th

08:00-09:00 Boat rigging.

10:00 Warning flag, first race of the day.

Lunch on the water at the call of the RC.

16:00 Awards presentation.

8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Sailing instructions will be available on-line (nsc.ca/oystr) approximately one week beforehand, or at the on-site registration.

9. VENUE

Racing

Races will be held on Lac Deschenes north of the NSC Harbour.

Accommodations

Camping will be available on NSC grounds. Washroom and shower facilities are open 24 hours. Several hotels/motels are within 10 minutes driving.

10. PRIZES

Multiple prizes will be awarded in all classes.

11. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
