Opportunities to race and learn-to-race abound at NSC!

For the youngest sailors, racing is introduced in a fun and supportive environment on O'Pen BIC sailboats with "Monday evening racing" starting at 6:00pm after regular sailing school hours during July & August. The summer's O'Pen BIC racing activities culminate with our annual O'Pen BIC "Un-regatta".

For older more experienced youth sailors (age 14-17), in-depth race training starts with the Silver Sail 6 program where participants race Laser, Laser/Radial, Club-420 or 29er class boats in local and out-of-town regattas during July and August.

Youth sailors (age 15-19) who are keenly interested in racing can enrol in the Youth High Performance Race Team program running from mid May until mid September where participants train and race on Laser, Laser/Radial, Club-420 or 29er class boats under the direction of a full-time race coach, competing in numerous local and out-of-town regattas.

Youth can also participate in local evening and weekend racing events on Lac Deschenes:

Youth and adults alike are also encouraged to participate in evening and weekend keelboat racing on Lac Deschenes as listed in the Sailing Calendar:

  • Monday evening Women's PHRF
  • Tuesday evening PHRF
  • Thursday evening One-Design and JAM
  • Weekend long distance races and other special events

A Crew Bank is available on-line to help facilitate bringing together interested sailors with skippers looking for crew.
