NSC Sailing School - Administrator Questionnaire
- What position(s) are you interested in at the Nepean Sailing Club?
- What is the extent of your sailing/racing experience, starting from
your learn-to-sail levels?
- How long have you been sailing?
- What types of boats have you sailed?
- How much sailing have you done outside of your learn-to-sail levels?
- Do you race? How much, at what level and in what types of boats? List any regatta results of significance.
- How much sailing/racing do you plan to do this summer?
If you have any sailing experience, please answer questions 2
through 4.
- What is experience and knowledge in boat repair? What are you
capable of doing and how would you rate your skills?
- How do you see sailing in your future?
- Do you have a current Canadian Yachting Association (CYA) instructor
level? If so, what level is it, when did you obtain this level, and
will you be acquiring another level in the spring?
- State the background of your experience teaching sailing, including
the number of years you have taught, the levels you have taught, the
age range of the students you have taught and what types of boats were
used?
If the Administrator is a CYA certified instructor, they may be
required to act as a replacement instructor. If you have experience
teaching sailing, please answer questions 5 through 10.
- List your roles and responsibilities from your past teaching
experience including any outside of teaching (boat maintenance, site
maintenance, etc.).
- How would you promote and develop youth racing at all levels; instil
a love for the sport in the students; and encourage the progression to
higher learn-to-sail levels?
- How would maintain a high level of boat maintenance and make sure
boats in all classes are promptly and properly fixed? How would you
minimize equipment failure?
- Besides teaching sailing do you have any teaching experience,
experience dealing with children in a supervision or leadership role?

- Are you familiar with the CYA Learn-to-Sail programs?
- The Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration
of the Sailing School. Processing registration and forms must be done
in an efficient and effective manner. What skills, experience or
educational background do you have that will lend itself to these
responsibilities?
- The Administrator will deal with persons registering for courses or
making inquiries, parents of students, NSC staff other than from the
Sailing School, and NSC members. Both verbal and written communication
skills are required. During these times you are representing the
Sailing School and the Nepean Sailing Club. What qualities and
experience do you have to ensure you do so in a professional manner?
How are your written and interpersonal skills?
- The Sailing School Administrator will need to be proficient on a
Windows platform in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Internet Explorer,
and Outlook. Please state your abilities and familiarity with respect
to this software.
