  2. What is your current CYA instructor level? When did you obtain this level and will you be acquiring another level in the spring?

  3. State the background of your experience teaching sailing, including the number of years you have taught, the levels you have taught, the age range of the students you have taught and what types of boats were used?

  4. List your roles and responsibilities from your past teaching experience including any outside of teaching (boat maintenance, site maintenance, etc.).

  5. Outside of teaching sailing, do you have any other teaching experience, experience dealing with children in a supervision or leadership role, or other experience that would lend itself to teaching sailing? Please state all the details.

  6. What is the extent of your sailing/racing experience, starting from your learn-to-sail levels?
    1. How long have you been sailing?
    2. What types of boats have you sailed?
    3. How much sailing have you done outside of your learn-to-sail levels?
    4. Do you race? How much, at what level and in what types of boats?
    5. List any regatta results of significance.
    6. How much sailing/racing do you plan to do this summer?

  7. How would you promote and develop youth racing at all levels; instill a love for the sport in the students; and encourage the progression to higher learn-to-sail levels?

  8. If, for instance, you had and eight to ten year old student who passes White Sail 1 and 2 in his/her first session, but their White Sail 2 skills are borderline pass. Do you think it is in the student's best interest to progress to White Sail 3, to participate in White Sail 2 again or an alternate program if available? Why?

  9. In each learn-to-sail level there is a certain amount of on-water training that is needed to develop the required sailing skills, as well as a certain amount of theory that needs to be taught. For the sailing level(s) that you are interested in at NSC, state your philosophy on how much time you would allot to both theory and sailing; how you would go about planning when to do either theory or sailing and what factors this would depend on.

  10. What is experience and knowledge in boat repair? What are you capable of doing and how would you rate your skills?

  11. How would maintain a high level of boat maintenance by making sure boats are promptly and properly fixed? How would you minimize equipment failure?
