Learn to Sail 2018

Info
  • All sailors must be deemed physically fit to sail, and may be refused programming with a full refund.
  • All sailors should come dressed for the weather conditions, and be ready to get wet.
  • If the weather is deemed unsuitable for sailing to your abilities by your instructor, be prepared for land theory education.
  • If an individual class must be cancelled for any reason, you will be notified no later than 3 hours prior to your course start time.
  • If you are unable to make it to a class for any reason, please email ablesail@nsc.ca so we know to begin our class without you.
  • A minimum of 3 registrants is needed for course to run. Courses with fewer participants will be cancelled or merged with others where possible.

Learn to Sail • Beginners

Length: 4 lessons (Wednesday Afternoons) or 4 lessons (Saturdays)

Fees:

  • Members: $   125.00 (plus HST)
  • Non Member: $   140.00 (plus HST)

This program introduces the world of sailing to individuals with physical disabilities. Our specially built boats, and curriculum are customizable to fit many needs. Sailors should come each week ready to sail, learn, and meet new people. After completing this program, sailors will have learned basic boat theory, and be able to sail a boat in low winds with a companion.

Sailboat: Martin 16
Prerequisites: Learn to Sail Beginner Course or equivalent basic sailing skills

This program builds on the skills you learned in the beginner program, and introduces some new and exciting content. Sailors will be able to sail in more weather conditions, and build confidence in their abilities. After successfully graduating from this program, sailors are able to join the competitive and learn to race programs.


Group Demo Sails

For community groups serving the physically disabled, Group Demo Sails allow individuals with mobility impairments to try sailing in NSC's Martin 16 sailboats. Please contact us at ablesail@nsc.ca for info and guidelines regarding group visits. The NSC Sailing Club site and facilities are fully accessible.
