About The Club

General Information

The Nepean Sailing Club is located at Dick Bell Park on Lac DeschĂȘnes, a part of the Ottawa River in Nepean, Ontario. The Club was founded in 1979; it is a family-oriented, volunteer-based organization dedicated to promoting and encouraging active participation by members and the general public in the sport of sailing and recreational boating. A great deal of what you see today is a result of our dedicated staff and volunteers, who all share a love of boating at a reasonable cost.

The NSC hosts various sailing activities, regattas, and sail training programs, including Able Sail programs with accessible sailboats for persons with special needs in the National Capital Region. Our Sail Training programs are offered to sailors of various ages and competencies, beginning at age 6 with our Tackers program.

The interior of the Club includes the Members Lounge and Harbourview Hall, both featuring an unobstructed view of the Ottawa River and the Gatineau Hills. Styled to mimic the interior of a boat, our entertainment areas are entirely non-smoking and boast bright, airy and spacious areas with high ceilings and natural pine beams. The facility is fully licensed and open year-round, with reduced hours of operation in the cooler months.

Sailing and boating-related events, dinners, parties and information sessions are scheduled throughout the year which cater to members of all ages and are great opportunities to meet people with similar interests. Washrooms and showers are available to members and are accessible via indoor and outdoor access points. Additional facilities are located in our dry sail area and sailing school pavilion. Ice is available to members on the ground level of the Club.

For those members who want access to a sailboat without spending the time and money associated with boat ownership, Advantage Boating’s Sail Share program may be the answer!
