Who would you like to know or share with the NSC community?
In The Spotlight is a website feature created to celebrate the people who make up the Nepean Sailing Club (NSC). It’s a way to recognize our members, their achievements (big or small), shared experiences, and what matters most to them. Most importantly, it helps put faces to names (and names to faces), fostering a deeper connection across the entire NSC community.
Guiding Principles
In The Spotlight is all about our people. First and foremost, every feature must be approved by the individual or group being highlighted. Second, we aim to reflect the full diversity of our club—young and old, sailors, power boaters, racers, cruisers, staff, volunteers, beginners, and experts alike.
Want to Submit an In The Spotlight?
First off, you don’t have to do this alone. One of our helpful website volunteers will be with you from beginning to end as needed, from early receipt of your story idea(s), feedback on the story itself through to the formatting and publishing of your story. Experienced, inexperienced, or somewhere in between, help is available.
To get started, we’ve included a template you may wish to use to build your In The Spotlight. In The Spotlights should include the name or names of the people being written about and a photo. Include some key facts such as their relationship to the club, how long they’ve been involved in the club… Think of things like their background, their career, community involvement, personal growth, and future aspirations…
Looking for inspiration? You might write about:
- An NSC member, volunteer, staff or service provider, a family, or a group of friends who has made a difference to you.
- Boating or sailing experiences and adventures
- A favourite destination on Lac Deschênes or elsewhere
- An interesting anchorage, cruising destination or boating discovery
- A memorable day or event at the club
- Favourite things about the club
- etc…
These are just suggestions. If your story would be of interest to fellow members, we’d love to hear it.
