The Plan
The Ottawa C&C 27 Fleet is excited to host the second annual “Fleet Builder and Mixer”, building on the success of last year’s event. This fun day will see skippers and crew members from the C&C 27 fleet swap boats and team up with sailors from different clubs, creating a great opportunity to connect and learn from each other. We’ll run a couple of short, friendly races, followed by a raft-up at the dock at NSC for snacks, refreshments, and socializing.
The Schedule
1245: Skippers, bring your boats to the main dock in front of the club to raft up.
1300: Sailors briefing and crew assignments under the blue tent.
1330: Boats depart harbour, familiarize crew, and get in a few tacks and gybes.
1430: Two short races (target 30-35 minutes/race).
1600: Raft-up back at the dock at NSC for a C&C 27 potluck (weather permitting; otherwise we will meet in the bar & galley).
Registration
Skippers/owners are asked to “register” by sending an email to Renée Young. When registering, please indicate the number of crew members who would like to participate. There is no minimum or maximum requirement, and we will do our best to accommodate everyone, provided we have enough skippers and boats. Skippers/owners will remain with their own boat and will be paired with crew from other boats, with the goal of mixing experienced sailors with those newer to the fleet.
Crew
This event is open to all crew from the C&C 27 fleet and we ask that you identify the skipper you typically sail with so that we can do our best to randomize the crews. The aim is to have 5-6 people on each boat. Interested crew members are asked to express interest by sending an email to Renée Young.
New this year
We invite skippers to submit any specific questions or areas they would like to discuss — for example, starting line strategies, downwind sailing, or strategies for avoiding the protest room. These suggestions will help shape the event and ensure it’s both fun and valuable for everyone.
Sailing Instructions
This event falls under our Interclub racing program; our Interclub SIs and waivers apply. Courses will be “Simple Sausage” SS2 courses, per Part J of the SIs.
Other Details
Come regardless of the weather; the plan will be modified as required.
