The 2024 Interclub Awards Night was 15 January 2025, as the last act of the sailing year. The evening started with an interview with Giles Scott, Canada NorthStar SailGP Team driver, hosted by NSC Treasurer Andrew Dickson.  Giles’ descriptions of how they prepare as a team, first through video calls and then in person just before the SailGP race circuit begins, was awe inspiring.  Even more so knowing that the average boat speed is 50 knots, with change of tacks called within 8 seconds of the move.  And all this while sailing a fraction of a second away from other boats.

80 sailors from NSC, BYC and CVGR came together to celebrate the 2024 Interclub Awards on 15 January at NSC. Scott Murphy emceed the event, celebrating individual interclub fleets while recognizing all the race winners in each interclub fleet. Ross Ernst kindly acted for NSC Fleet Captain Dominic Goodwill who was out of town.

Awards Presentations: Interclub racing Fleets were celebrated with certificates for top performers in each weeknight series and overall 1st place season finisher. Four interclub trophies were awarded, including winners of the Interclub Long Distance series which are the 7 designated interclub up-river races.

We also celebrated local boats who scored highly in PHRF Lake Ontario Region club racing. PHRF-LO collects club scores around the region to adjust next year’s boat handicaps. They calculate regional club racing results, even for boats that never meet on the water. Our strong showing reflects highly on the quality of NSC/BYC interclub racing.
