Social Day Cruising: A Fantastic Fifth Season

Season Five: Big Winds, Big Wins

It’s a wrap. The Social Day Cruising program rounded off its fifth season with a party on September 25th. After an (admittedly relaxing) sail, we had quizzes, games, prizes, and CAKE.

The event marked the end of another glorious summer of sailing, skills development and connecting on our precious body of water. The wind was sometimes too much, sometimes too little. And, every now and then, it was just perfect.

Captains, Crew and Community

The fleet set sail 18 times with up to 32 crew on 11 boats. Thanks to the generous support of 18 boat owners, we had a wait list for crews only once. All in all, 88 people got a chance to hone their sailing skills under the watchful eye of an experienced skipper and on a wide variety of boat types.

Two participants became boat owners for the first time this year, and two others succumbed to two-foot-itis. Two more will have to continue their search next year.

Keeping the Spirit Alive All Winter

The skippers and crews plan to get together each month around the fire in the club bar to keep their love of the pastime and the sailing community alive during the cold, dark months ahead.

All good things … But let’s come back and do it all again next year.
