SOLOSAIL for Campfire Circle
The 2024 installment of “Solo” will mark the 5th and final installment of the fundraiser that to date has raised over $100k for Campfire Circle, that runs camps for kids affected by cancer.
How to support
You can support our Solo Sailors on this page.
Dave and the team cameraderie
The brainchild of NSC’s own “Super Dave” Morralee that began as a true solo endeavour during the pandemic summer of 2020 (when he personally logged over 300km zig-zagging over 6 days/nights on the river) “SOLOSAIL” has grown to include around ten sailors per year, joining for the number of days/nights they are available and comfortable with. In 2023 we flexed to allow a companion crew, if needed, and removed the distance requirement. The primary objective is to raise awareness; the second is to get local sailors and club members on the water to raise funds.

The camaraderie and sense of adventure that took hold among the SOLO sailors during the event have forged new friendships, SOLO highlights and moments of adversity have become the stuff of legend! From SD’s lifesaving water rescue of a capsized Hobie cat, Jed leading a mission to help dislodge Stephen’s anchor from Redwood-sized driftwood near Pinhey’s, Scott’s daring and now legendary Constance Bay low-wind solo ladder swim, James’ fight with westerly winds and waves as the event’s first SOLO-canoeist, Geoff’s live on-air interview on CTV while Frank, Manny and others buzzed by within inches, to Eric’s legendary lithium-battery-enabled post-sail blender drinks. The memories and fun are endless, and all for a great cause!
Save the date, and join in Aug 9-11 (that will include the NSC Baskin’s Beach Party) for SOLOSAIL ’24!
