FAQ: NSC’s Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) that we hope will help you while navigating the NSC website. We will update this page as we receive more questions.

Who can I contact if I am having trouble or cannot find something?

On this page, you can ask a question, report a bug, or contribute content. Note: the website is not actively monitored, and you may not receive a response for several days. If your request is urgent, please contact the main office during regular hours.

Mobile Devices:
Where do I find the search box and login button on my mobile device?

Tap the “hamburger” menu at the top right of your phone’s screen.

Mobile Devices: Where is the context menu on my phone?

Scroll all the way to the bottom of your screen to see where the current page is located relative to other pages in that section of the top menu. Tapping on About NSC, Boating, Membership, etc. will display a different context menu each time.

Mobile Devices: How do I use the menu?

There is also a pull-down arrow across from each of the main menu headings as shown on the right immediately above.

Where can I find quick information about the website?

Click the link “Website” located at the bottom of any page to get access to helpful tips on finding your way around. Make the most of your online experience as you explore our resources.

I’m a member. How do I log into the NSC website ?

To access Club information and resources like “Proof of Insurance” or “Board Minutes,” click the “Log In” button at the top of the website or any “For Members Only” link. You will be prompted to enter a username and password. Log in using your surname and membership number as shown on your membership card, including the hyphen (–).

I can’t log in to the Website.

The website’s membership database credentials are updated monthly. If you can’t log in, it may be that your credentials have not yet been included in the latest update.

General members cannot reset their password using the “Forgot your Password?” feature, because your log-in credentials are tied to your official membership information, which cannot be changed. If you are locked out or unable to log in, please contact the NSC office during regular office hours to have your log-in reset.

What is “NSC Connect”?

“NSC Connect” is NSC’s membership management system and is used to manage member accounts, book a crane or reserve rental boats, among other processes requiring higher security.

How do I log in to NSC Connect?

The NSC Connect member management system and login are separate from the NSC website login. When you click on the NSC Connect Membership Management blue box, you will be taken outside of the NSC website to another portal. In the top “Member Number” field, do not enter your name as you would for the website login. Instead, type in your membership number with the hyphen (e.g., “1234-5678”). In the “Password” field, enter your first initial followed by your last name (e.g., jdoe).

I have WordPress credentials. How do I log in to edit the website?

NSC Board directors, administrators, NSC staff, and volunteers with Content Management System (WordPress) permissions can access the WordPress dashboard by clicking the “Log In” button at the top of any page and entering their WordPress management account credentials.

Note: To access your regular member content, you must log out of your WordPress account and log back in using your regular membership account credentials (last name and membership number, including the hyphen).

Where can I find help using the Club’s WordPress or Box.com applications?

NSC Board directors, administrators, NSC staff and volunteers with a Content Management System (WordPress) permission can access the WordPress and Box.com help on the Website’s How To page.

How do the website menus work?

There are 5 main menus presented across all webpages, and these include About NSC, Boating, Membership, Club Amenities, and Bar and Galley. Each main menu includes a drop-down list of pertinent sub-menus. Each sub-menu page includes a “Sidebar Menu” that only displays the pages that belong to the relevant section of the top main menu (i.e., pages that belong to any of “About NSC,” “Boating,” “Membership,” etc.). In this way, whatever page you’re on, you can mostly see where you are on the website.

If you find the sidebar menu a little long to get through, here’s a tip: hold CTRL, hit “F,” and type in the name of the page you’re looking for. It should then be highlighted in the sidebar menu.
