On a rainy Monday, August 19th, two Nepean Sailing Club Martin 16s were loaded onto a CN container for transport to the Mobility Cup in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.
The Mobility Cup is a “regatta of possibility” where personal, social, geographic, technological, and organizational barriers are challenged in the spirit of friendly competition. It is international in scope, inviting people from around the globe to participate in excellence, discovery, and learning.
The Mobility Cup Regatta demonstrates that sailing is an inclusive, accessible, and integrated sport/recreation available to all persons. The Regatta is a major event, and the exposure and fundraising that come along with it provide a great opportunity to leave a legacy of funds, capital equipment, accessible facilities, and programs that will have a positive impact for years to come.
Special thanks to Gervais Towing for providing the float service tow truck at no cost to the club, and to CN Transport, a continuing sponsor of the Mobility Cup, for providing a 53-foot shipping container.
We also extend our gratitude to the NSC volunteer team led by John Brooks and Brian Peckover, and the NSC yard staff led by John Gardner. Good luck to Brian Peckover and Karell Regnier, who will sail for NSC.
