The Fleet
Three Nepean Sailing Club 2.4 Meter sailors competed in the North American 2.4 Meter Championship at the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club September 24-29. The fleet of 25 boats included Olympic and Paralympic sailing alumni and a US Sailor of the Year award winner. Sailors came from as far away as Victoria and Florida.
Conditions
Winds ranged from very light to high teens. The final day of racing was cancelled due to winds of + 23 knots and the race committee having a limited number of emergency pumps on their rescue boats to pump out swamped boats.
Results
The winner was Jeff Linton from Davis Island YC, Tampa Florida with Bruce Millar from Royal Victoria YC second. Nepean sailors Peter Wood, Johan Koppernaes, and Peter Norwood placed sixth, ninth and nineteenth respectively.
