Kingston Yacht Club (KYC) will be hosting an Ontario Sailing Club Judge Course on April 13. This course is intended for those of us who are interested in being involved in club racing but also is a great course for anyone wanting to develop their racing rules skills.

Ontario Sailing delivers several Sail Canada Club Judge courses throughout the year (including the one recently held at NSC by our very own Greg Dargavel). Sail Canada’s Judge Program provides qualified, trained individuals to act as judges and protest committee chairs. To be certified as a Club Judge you must complete a Sail Canada Club Judge Seminar. Once an individual completes the Seminar and gains practical experience, they can apply for Club Judge Certification.
Club Judges support NSC’s racing program by serving on protest committees and acting as advisors on racing rules and procedures. At this course, not only will you review rules, definitions, and the application of the rules, you will be exposed to what’s involved in organizing a regatta, running a protest hearing and much more.
