Report on the Pinhey’s Point Sunset Time Trial – Fri, Aug 23

The fifth annual Pinhey’s Point Sunset Time Trial ran Friday, August 23. Seven boats made it out for the start window, from 1830 to 1835, and all boats finished before 2200. We started with a light wind out of the SW at ~5 knots; it was tight enough that only Cheekey Monkey could fly her chute. Though after the fleet past Aylmer Island, the wind backed enough to allow a few other boats to raise their spinnakers.

The sun set just before the first boats rounded the Pinhey’s Point mark, and as it got dark, the wind picked up, building to 10-15 knots, for a relatively quick, tight reach, back to P mark.
