As well as competing in glorious weather at FANFARE, the weekend of Sept 12-13 saw sailors from NSC taking part and making the podium in several prestigious out of town events.
2026 Mobility Cup
At the 2026 Mobility Cup, held at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, NSC’s Brian Peckford once again showed his dominance in the Gold Fleet, taking first place after winning 8 out of 11 races. Karell Regnier placed 14th and ex- NSC sailor Aaron Wong-Sing placed 15th. Photos courtesy of Mobility Cup 2026 Vancouver.

2026 Lipton Challenge Cup
At the 2026 Lipton Challenge Cup, held at Norton Yacht Club in Conneticut. Nepean Sailing Club was represented by Van Sheppard and his two sons, Alexander and Steven (both graduates of our youth race team) racing their Viper 640. This event is a special competition between yacht clubs. There’s one boat per club, and Helms must change after each race.
Quoting the event co-chair, “Lipton is always a close competition. This year was no exception. There were five different winners over five races. After the dust settled, only five points separated the top 5 clubs. Nepean Sailing Club were deserving and popular winners.” The link below shows Van and his crew receiving their trophy.

J/24 US Nationals
Meanwhile, Vince Somoza took his boat to Portland Maine for the J/24 US Nationals, as part of his 2027 Worlds Campaign. His boat was registered under the name Clear Air, with Rossi Milev driving. One of only two Canadian boats taking part, they placed First in a fleet of 33 boats, although the championship title went to the second placed top American boat. Vince noted that it was a challenging event, held across three different course areas, giving us a variety of conditions and steep competition against several all-pro teams.

J/22 Canadian Championship
The J/22 Canadian Championships were hosted at NOD this year, but a lack of wind prevented any racing. The event was re-sheculed to last weekend at Hudson yacht Club where the winds allowed 7 races to be held. NSC was represented by 2 boats out of a fleet of 16, with Kismet sailed by Annaliese Cassidy, John Rae, and Cameron Liang finishing second overall.
