Original Deed, Background and History of the Trophy:

Commander Richard Morgan was the chief meteorologist on the Bonaventure, the third and last aircraft carrier in the Royal Canadian Navy; he was also an avid yacht racer. Commander Morgan received this silver sailboat sculpture as a retirement present and for starting a small yacht club at the Shearwater base in Nova Scotia.

Sheila Evans, his daughter, was also an avid sailor and racer at the NSC. She volunteered as a companion with the Able Sail Racers for ten years and had the honour of being their Volunteer Coordinator for six of those years. After leaving Ottawa to move to Windsor she had her father's sculpture made into a trophy.

The Morgan-Evans Able Sail Trophy was first awarded in 2021.

Six (6) points shall be awarded to any boat for a DNS, DNF, DNC, DSQ, OCS, or other score that would exceed 6 points.

If there is a series-score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s).
