Due to the inclement weather anticipated for 18 July, we have made the decision to reschedule Commodore’s Sailpast to next Saturday, 25 July. Anniversary burgee pickup will also be rescheduled to 25 July.
While Mother Nature has forced us to pause, it just means we get to look forward to clear skies and smooth sailing!

Join us on 25 July for our annual Commodore’s Sailpast!
This year’s costume theme is Gilligan’s Island. Think stormy seas, tropical islands, and, of course, the wonderfully ridiculous castaways from the classic 1960s sitcom.
Prizes will be awarded to the three most creatively decorated boats and crews, while the dock with the greatest number of decorated boats will earn coveted bragging rights. Enjoy light refreshments, a specialty cocktail, anniversary burgee presentations, and live entertainment throughout the afternoon.
Dress up yourself, your boat, your family—or even your dog! The Commodore’s Sailpast is our club’s official celebration of the sailing season. Whether you sail, motor, paddle, or hitch a ride, everyone takes part in saluting the Commodore before gathering ashore for an afternoon of fun.
No boat? No problem! We guarantee we’ll get you on the water.
Let’s celebrate our club, our community, and another great season on the water. All NSC members and their guests are welcome. Our goal is 75 boats this year—help us make it happen!

Visit the whiteboard on the West Lawn. We’ll make sure everyone who wants to gets out on the water.

Boats depart the harbour for the Sailpast.

Commodore’s Sailpast
The Commodore will anchor offshore while boats parade past and salute by luffing their sails, waving, dipping their burgee, or firing a water pistol.
3:30–7:30 p.m.
Cocktails, refreshments, and live music.
How to Participate
Decorate yourself, your crew, and your boat. Flags, streamers, bright colours, and loud clothing are strongly encouraged. Embrace your inner castaway—or your favourite Gilligan’s Island character. Bonus points if your original 1960s resort wear still fits!
Sailboats and Powerboats
Sailing Instructions including a chart and diagram are also provided here. Please note that BYC will be holding their National Capital Regatta on Saturday, please take care not to motor / sail through the race course on your way to and from the Sailpast.
Leave the harbour by 1:45 p.m.
