Members Fall Information Mixer Report

Exciting New Format

The Members Fall Information Meeting took on an exciting new format in 2024 with a “Member Mixer” on December 11 in Harbourview Hall. Designed to engage both new and long-standing members, the event combined fun and information, providing a platform to celebrate the club’s vibrant community while keeping everyone informed about club activities and operations. The evening began with a lively social mixer, complete with finger foods and a cash bar, encouraging members to mingle, make connections, and share stories from the season.

Interactive Segments

The main program comprised three interactive segments: “On the Water,” “In the Harbour and On the Docks,” and “In the House.” NSC’s Commodore, Corey Glynn, led the sessions in a casual fireside chat style, joined by Directors responsible for various portfolios. The sessions encouraged active member participation, with open mic questions and discussions that highlighted the club’s dynamic sailing programs, fleet racing initiatives, and clubhouse operations. Members gained valuable insights into 2024 sailing achievements, our sailing programs, and exciting plans for the 2025 season. The “Beer for Stories” exchange added a lighthearted touch, as members shared personal anecdotes.

Member Engagement

The evening concluded with updates on social and operational initiatives, focusing on how members can engage more deeply with club activities.  Members were encouraged to take full advantage of NSC’s “off-season” offerings during our updated winter hours. These include the Winter Speaker Series on WednesdaysTrivia Nights every Thursday with Galley specialsLive music on Fridays and the Bar and Galley’s half-price-wings weekend special.

This Member Mixer not only showcased the club’s efforts to inform and engage its community but also reinforced its commitment to fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment where every member feels at home.  Check out the Telltale and nsc.ca for up-to-date information.
