The 2018 Harbourmaster’s Race was run on 18 August, with 19 adult NSC sailors competing in children’s Open Bics and every move critiqued by the landlubbers on the deck. Winds were (as always in the harbour) light and variable, with wind shifts at the stern of every moored keelboat. Congrats to the winner Kieran Whalen-Hughes.
On possibly one of the nicest weekends this summer, 30 boats and about 90 folks met up-river for our signature cruising rendezvous at Baskins Beach. Some by boat and some by road, old friends gathered and new friendships were formed.
It is with great sadness that we mark the sudden and tragic passing of NSC Member and Ottawa business owner Friedemann Weinhardt. Our sincere condolences to his family and friends. In respect, NSC’s flag will fly at half-mast.
