Parking

Only in Designated Spaces

The Nepean Sailing Club is situated within Dick Bell Park, a municipal park. As a result, all parking areas are open to the public, including NSC members, their guests, and other park visitors.

Please park only in designated spaces. Parking along roadways may result in a ticket.

NSC members and their guests can obtain parking passes for extended or overflow parking. If you’re planning an overnight cruise, we recommend parking inside the yard for added security.

FAQs

Parking is strictly prohibited on the grass along the road from Carling Avenue to the yard gate, as well as in any areas of the parking lots outside of designated spaces. Bylaw officers regularly patrol this area and will issue tickets for any violations.

The City of Ottawa and their Bylaw Officers monitor and enforce parking regulations throughout the parking area.

During peak times of club activity, the Club coordinates with the City to use the grass area east of the main gate for overflow parking. This arrangement is typically in place on Thursday evenings, during regattas, and in the busy period leading up to Launch Day.

At all other times, parking in this area is not allowed.

Parking in City of Ottawa parks — including Dick Bell Park — is generally prohibited between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. year-round.

However, this restriction does not apply to NSC members or their guests parked in NSC-designated lots, provided a valid NSC Parking Pass is displayed.

Overnight parking within the NSC yard is allowed in specific circumstances, except when restricted by the Rear Commodore, which is common during busy periods such as the lead-up to Launch and Haulout.

Members and guests using overflow parking or staying overnight must display an NSC Parking Permit on their dashboard. These permits are available for download on the password-protected NSC Members’ website.

NSC strongly recommends using the gated yard for overnight parking whenever possible.

Please note that the Nepean Sailing Club is not responsible for enforcing parking regulations or issuing tickets. Parking enforcement is handled by the City of Ottawa and its Bylaw Officers, who regularly monitor the entire parking area.

If you receive a ticket and believe you were parked correctly, you must contact the City of Ottawa directly to dispute the infraction.

Please refer to the posted signage near the boat launch for the most up-to-date information.

In general, launch pass holders are allowed to park in the designated large vehicle/trailer spots located directly across from the launch ramp.

If you are visiting for the day, no parking pass is required—parking is free at all times.

However, if you plan to park overnight or in a specialized parking area, NSC members can provide you with a guest parking pass.
