NSC Pinhey’s Point Race

The NSC Pinhey’s Point Race takes place in late June or early July and comprises a relatively short (~14 Nm return) up-river race which passes close by Pinhey’s Point Historic Site and anchorage. This is the shortest of NSC’s up-river Long Distance races, and forms part of the Interclub Long Distance Series. It is an ideal event for families and newcomers to up-river sailing who are interested in trying out something new on a summer weekend.

The race normally starts around noon outside the NSC harbour. Sailors pass Aylmer Island, and then continue upriver to a rounding mark off Pinhey’s Point.  After rounding the mark, racers turn down-river for the homeward bound leg to the finish. Loud cheering and cameras have been known to break out as the train of boats pass by the turning mark in front of the anchorage.

Up for grabs is the Nautilus trophy for the first NSC PHRF or JAM boat on combined corrected time, plus keepers for the top three boats.

Check the Sailing Instructions for additional details.
