NSC hosted the joint Stony Point Race on Sunday, August 7; this was the fourth race of the Interclub Long-Distance (ILD) Series. Eight boats showed up for the 1000 warning for what is the longest of all the ILD races, and they were certainly in for an interesting ride!
Once again, one of our own, David Morralee, is spearheading a long distance charity solo sail of a fleet of boats August 16-21, attempting to cover 300km on the Ottawa River in 6 days. The charity is Campfire Circle that hosts camp for kids affected by cancer and their families.
On possibly the hottest weekend of this summer, about 25 boats and over 100 folks met up-river for our signature cruising rendezvous at Baskins Beach. Some by boat, and some by road; old friends gathered, and new friendships were formed.
Yes, the weather and winds were crazy on Sunday, August 8. Lots of very heavy downpours amidst thunderstorms, and as reported by multiple weather stations and sailors alike, the wind was constantly changing direction. Come enjoy live music in the Members Lounge every Friday Night! Check out the current lineup.
A new web page has been created, showing the wind & weather over the past 24 hours, in 10-minute increments. This page was created based on feedback from members who commented that they liked to review the winds from their sail the previous day.
A gathering for NSC dinghy and catamaran sailors and friends, and CanSail dinghy students from Advantage Boating. Show off your boat, take a new or old friend out for a sail, gather round for snacks and swapping tall tales. Saturday 13 August 2022, 3 to 6pm.
The most ridiculous activity in NSC’s year: the 2022 Harbourmaster’s Race, Saturday 13 August. Big people in little youth boats sailing in the harbour. Open to any members, guests, staff at least 18 years old, including Advantage Boating sailors. We provide the boats.
