SailPast: Schedule for the Day

There are a number of great events planned for SailPast this coming Saturday (June 11, 2016).  Officially, the day starts at 11:00 AM.  The entire schedule is attached below

11:00h – 12:30h: Volunteer Lunch

A first for Sail Past. If you have volunteered at NSC, you’re invited. Details are posted here and we do ask that if you’re planning to join please us know by registering here

13:00h – 16:00h: Sail Past

Get you, your family and friends on your boat on Lac Deschenes: Power, Sail, Paddle or Row: all are welcome.

Full “Sailing Instructions” are here.  At 1300h, boats will rally at a point upwind, led by Ross Ernst and his Tanzer-22 called “Snoekie”. Shortly after, Ross will lead a parade of boats downwind to “salute the Commodore”. You can widely interpret what constitutes a “salute”, I’m very open to creativity. Traditionally, boats are decorated – flags, pennants and such.

This year, you and your crew need crazy hats. That’s right: hats. Outrageously crazy hats

16:00h – 17:00h: Burgee Presentation and Volunteer Recognition

NSC has a longstanding tradition of recognizing our members, volunteers and flag officers with Burgees. Members celebrating their 5-year anniversaries (5, 10, 20…) receive a commemorative burgee and starting this year, the Club will start a tradition of recognizing volunteers at Sail Past. This year will mark the first awards for members who have long-served on the Board of Directors for 10 or more years and also the introduction of a trophy for outstanding volunteer contributions. Refreshments will be served.

17:00h: Dinner and Cocktails

NSC’s other longstanding tradition: solid parties. This year, your Social Committee has devised a Fajita-based menu and a delicious Tex-Mex theme. This part of the day does, actually, require tickets and a reservation which you make online. In NSC-style, arrive around 1700h for snacks and cool off with a refreshing cocktail (cash bar!). Dinner starts at 1800h.

You can pick up tickets online here. If you have any issues with EventBrite, please contact the NSC Office.

Party!

After dinner, “DJ Dave” will rev-up the party machine. Dance music and Karaoke. Yes, Karaoke. Bring your best vocals and don’t forget the crazy hats.
