Winter Speaker Series 2023 seeking speakers, camera operators and video techs

This upcoming season the Winter Speaker Series will be held as live presentations in the Harbourview Room with simultaneous broadcast over the internet. For this we are looking for speakers to share stories, experiences, expertise, between January and early April. We also need volunteers to help out as a camera operators and video directors, switching between views in the course of each weekly talk. Now is the time to get involved! Email us at winterspeaker@nsc.ca if you’d like to share your stories or take on a new technical ‘career’ this winter. Read on for requirements.

For the past many years, a dedicated group of volunteers has organized and hosted a series of talks under the banner “Winter Speaker Series.” Each year about this time, we search for stories of interest to you who boat here in the region. This is an earnest call to everyone to tell us if you’ve had experiences that would be of interest to share with your dock mates, fellow members and everyone else with a love of boating. Or do you have a request for a topic and even a speaker to recommend? Let us know by email.

For those interested in volunteering on the technical end of things, experience would be helpful in operating Zoom-type software and troubleshooting malfunctions. Depending on the number of volunteers we have, you might help with one or two Wednesday evenings a month, from 1900 to 2100 and a 30-45 minute tech rehearsal a couple days before each Wednesday evening.
