The NSC Pinhey’s Point Race takes place in late June or early July. It covers a relatively short distance of approximately 14 nautical miles, providing an excellent opportunity for families and newcomers to experience up-river sailing on a summer weekend.
The race starts around the middle of the day outside the NSC harbour. You pass Aylmer Island and continue upriver towards Pinhey’s Point, round a mark just off the Point, then turn downriver for the homeward-bound leg to the finish line. The sight of boats passing the turning mark in front of the Pinhey’s Point anchorage often elicits enthusiastic cheering and attracts cameras to capture the moment.
The NSC Pinhey’s Point Race is part of the Interclub Long Distance Series and is the shortest of the NSC-hosted up-river races (although the BYC-hosted Queens Park races are even shorter).
Participants compete for the Nautilus trophy, awarded to the first NSC PHRF or JAM boat on combined corrected time, plus keeper awards for the top boats.

Don’t get confused: This race is different from the Pinhey’s Point Sunset Time Trial, which is an evening/after dark event.
