NSC provides storage for masts on racks for boats that have masts that overhang to a point that impedes storage and for masts that do not fit under covers only. Owners need to pick up an identification tag from the front office which must be attached to the mast when on the racks. All masts must have spreaders removed as well as radar and all other protrusions. All Rigging and furling systems are to be securely taped and wrapped to the mast.

Proof of Vaccination Requirements for NSC
The Government of Ontario requires that individuals using interior dining, bar and/or event areas must show a valid proof of vaccination before being permitted to enter. The provincial regulation is here. Members and their guests will be asked to present proof of vaccination at the reception desk at the top of the stairs if they wish to dine or stay at the bar inside. more…
Alymer Island Volunteer Cleanup a Success!
This past Sunday, NSC assisted in transporting volunteers to Aylmer Island for a shoreline clean up. 13 volunteers from Ottawa Riverkeeper and Deep Blue Cleanup and three boat drivers from NSC removed 44 pounds of garbage and a derelict fiberglass dinghy. Members asked to remove items in yard by 30 September
In preparation for the Fall yard cleanup, members are asked to remove any items stored in the boatyard other than registered boats, cradles or trailers no later than 30 September. There will be a yard cleanup after this date and items not attached to a registered boat, cradle or trailer will be disposed of.
New Hazard Marker in NSC Channel
As of 13 September, a new White Spar Buoy marker has been installed over an underwater hazard discovered within the NSC channel that has been struck by several members’ boats. Please exercise caution when transiting around this area.
Depth Caution – Harbour Channel
Water levels on Lac Deschênes are approaching record low water levels; they are currently lower than they have been since 2012. There have been some incidents of boat groundings on the east side of the channel near the 4th green buoy when leaving the harbour area. Please proceed with caution. more…
Reminder to Keep Outboard Motors in “Down” Position
Members with boats moored in the harbour, this is a gentle reminder to please keep your outboard motors in the “down” position when moored. Otherwise this can pose a hazard to other boats when entering or leaving the harbour.
Yard Gate Not Functioning Properly

Do not follow other vehicles through the sliding gate into the boatyard. The detector loop is not functioning. This means that your vehicle and the gate could sustain significant damage if it starts to close when you are part way through. more…
