How to Submit Content for the Website, Telltale, or OptiSigns

To Submit Content for the Telltale

The Telltale is the Nepean Sailing Club’s weekly electronic newsletter. The Telltale includes ‘headline news’ for the week ahead and is typically emailed out to members every Wednesday during the sailing season and twice a month during the winter.

If you have news, stories, or photos to include in the weekly Telltale, please first contact the web team to request a URL (web address) of a post of your content to which your short version in the Telltale will be linked.

Once you have the URL, include it with your content for the Telltale. Email telltale@nsc.ca  by Tuesday noon for the Wednesday 4 pm publication. Links to website posts with more complete information must be included with your submission to the Telltale. The posts can be either on NSC’s website (see below) or on external websites (such as registration pages).

Please note that the Telltale does not repeat content from week to week (except in special circumstances). If something must be repeated two or more weeks in a row, the item will need to be resubmitted by the weekly deadline for that week (Tuesday noon), preferably with a new image and text. Repeated content causes our readership to decline.

What to Include in Your Submission to the Telltale

In your email to the telltale@nsc.ca, include:

  • a relevant non-copyright image ideally sized at 1080 x 1080 pixels
  • a summary of the item in about 20 words, and, if required,
  • the relevant link to a webpage where subscribers can read more.

For images, your submission can include your non-copyright images or existing images from NSC’s website or media library. Free image websites such as Unsplash or Freepick are also good sources for images.

See image requirements below.

How to Submit Content for NSC’s Website

Please submit your content through our portal or by email to www@nepeansailingclub.atlassian.net.

Include non-copyrighted images. Please note that NSC website editors require 3-4 days to prepare posts, but they can usually give you the URL within a day or two. (Still, please factor this time requirement into the timing of your Telltale publication). For example, if submitting a Telltale item by the Tuesday noon deadline, please submit your post request by the previous Thursday or Friday.

How to Submit Content for NSC’s OptiSigns

“OptiSigns” refers to the monitors located in the club foyer and above the bar. They serve as a significant vehicle for disseminating information to members.

You may email graphics content to the membership administrator with a request to include it on the screens in the clubhouse foyer and in the members’ lounge. Please note the image requirements below.
