Purple Martin banding numbers up in 2023
On July 8 and 15 over 100 visitors attended the banding of NSC’s purple martins, Peter Huszcz, NSC’s “Purple Martin Man”, reported. He informed the Telltale that 261 nestlings were banded, up 30 from 2022.

On June 3 NSC participated in Doors Open Ottawa and welcomed over 200 visitors on one of the nicest days of the spring. They were given tours in English, French and Spanish through the clubhouse, and down the walkway along the yard
This year’s Nautical Garage Sale may not have been as big as in years past but was a great success. There were approximately 10 vendors with their own tables,
We are helping new dinghy sailors get more time on the water. There has always been a gap between completing CanSail training and participating in the Wednesday evening dinghy racing. And that gap is being filled by NSC’s new Dinghy Skills Program.

Please note that the Main Office has temporarily relocated to the Sailing Room until further notice. The Office will continue to be open Monday thru Friday from 9:30-4:30, with the exception of Monday, 10 July when it will open at noon.

The C. Thomas Clagett, Jr. Memorial Clinic And Regatta (partnered with the U.S. Para Sailing Championship) was held June 20-25 in Newport, RI. This year’s event included Martin 16’s and 2.4mR’s (open to adaptive and able bodied sailors alike).
For our newer members, we are hosting another social Meet-Up this Friday, July 7 starting at 5:00 pm. We’ll collect in the Harbourview room upstairs in the clubhouse and take off on a tour at 5:15pm of our NSC facility and grounds.
It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to long-time NSC member Bob Sullivan. Bob passed away June 27 in hospital in Galway, Ireland. A celebration of life will be held at 716 Owls Cabin Ave., Riverside South, on July 22, 2023, 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
