The NSC-hosted 26 km Race (formerly the 20 Mile Race) is an upriver race to Pinhey’s Point and back, usually held in late September. It is the final race of the Interclub Long Distance Series.
Up for grabs is the Brule Bowl for the first NSC PHRF or JAM boat on combined corrected time, plus keepers for the top three boats.
Until 2019, the race was known as the 20-Mile Race, and temporary marks were set in front of Port of Call Marina, and across the River, in Breckenridge Bay. The course distance was ~20 Nm, hence the race name engraved on the Brule Bowl. However, in 2020, CVGR installed a semi-permanent yellow race mark at Pinhey’s Point. Given the popularity of the other Pinhey’s Point races, the decision was made to change the race to the 26 km (~14 Nm), which negated the need to send a markset up and back, twice, to Breckenridge Bay. In recent years, the 26 km Race has been very well attended.
As always, check the Sailing Instructions for the current details.
