Hi there, j/24 Chaos sailing out of CVGR (Aylmer) is looking for regular crew for Thursday night one-design. If you're on the Quebec side, this is an opportunity to race without having to bridge-cross at rush-hour... We have some of our regular crew who are away most of the so looking for bow, mast and/or pit, training will be provided. Currently sailing out of NSC (but willing to travel to the Quebec side), I race Monday nights on the Tonguç and sub from time to time on the Blue Zulu. I seek additional racing experience as well as one-off adventures like Midnight Madness, Aylmer Island raft up and overnight cruises. I have spinnaker experience on Mirage 25 and C&C 27, as well as some main, genoa and helm experience on the Mirage. I'm open to learning more. My sailing experience began at the Ottawa New Edinburgh Club, racing Lasers and CL-16s. I continue to develop my skills through the NSC Dinghy School and give back to the community by volunteering on a distance marker boat at Bring on the Bay and will serve as a mark layer at Cork later this summer. I did my basic cruising in summer 2017 and did some crewing and social sailing in 2018. I was then overseas working though did manage a four day sail on the Red Sea, where I helped crew. I started social sailing again summer 2024 and rejoined the NSC this year. I am looking to get out more and practice my skills and learn as much as I can. I am female who recently entered her 60s but am fit and active. I am happy to crew and would like to try racing, though I have never done that before. I am semi-retired but not working currently so am available most days, including weekdays and weekends, and evenings as well. I don't live far from the NSC so can get there fairly quickly. I have a keen interest in dinghy sailing, as I owned, sailed, and raced a Laser many years ago, and I loved every minute of the experience. I want to get back into the sport now that I am retired, but, because I had no recent experience in dinghy sailing, I enrolled in the Can Sail 1 / 2 course in June of 2025 to bring myself up to speed with current practices. I feel there is still a lot to learn, however, so I would love to be able to crew on a dinghy to sharpen my basic skills, and to prepare myself, eventually, for racing. I am a fit and active senior with an open schedule and availability on weeknights and weekends, but with a day's notice please, as I presently need to take public transit to get to NSC. My sailing experience includes a 4-day Basic Cruising course on a Sonar 23, where I had the opportunity to try all crew positions, including skipper.
