NSC members Matt Davidge and Doug McGhan are enroute this week to the Columbia River Gorge (extremely windy venue between Oregon State, and Washington State) to represent NSC at the International 14 North American Championships. Last week the Eastern Yachting Circuit (EYC) Annual Regatta was held out of the Bay of Quinte Yacht Club in Belleville.
A reminder to all skippers and NSC members: Please ensure that your regular crew (racing or cruising) are paid-up members of Nepean Sailing Club.
Fleet is pleased to introduce the “Crew Table” as a meeting place for skippers and crew on race nights. Building on an informal but poorly advertised practice that has existed for years, the Crew Table is intended to facilitate connecting those interested in racing, with those needing crew on any given night.
The annual NSC rites of spring have now passed, with a great THRASH by Social, Launch, and weekly Interclub Racing has begun (Yeah!) as I’m finally pulling together this quarterly report. Your 2015 Fleet Committee volunteers have been busy putting the final pieces in place for the start of a fantastic Sailing season.
As some of you may know, water levels have dropped and BYC’s flood gates have been out for awhile now. BYC’s start has now been officially confirmed, and weeknight Interclub racing will start with the Spring Series beginning this week. Right on schedule for this year!
Kingston Yacht Club and Sail Kingston/CORK are hosting an Ontario Sailing Safety Officer Training Course on June 6 and 7, 2015. This is the only course scheduled for Ontario in 2015 and is open to all interested people. Registration is limited to 12 participants, so register early before May 29.
NSC will host an Ontario Sailing sponsored session of the Sail Canada Level 1 & 2 Race Officer Courses, running 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday March 28 and 29th, 2015. This is the only course scheduled for Eastern Ontario and is open to all interested people.
Well we’re now three months since the November 2014 AGM and past the Rear Commodore’s Winter Equinox date to spring Launch. Your 2015 Fleet Committee has been hard at work laying the foundation for another great Sailing season of competition and activities in 2015.
