NSC is carefully adhering to Ontario Sailing guidelines, as Fleet activities start. Currently, the following boating activities are allowed, per OS guidelines: recreational boating of individual boats with only members of one household aboard – so you are free to take your boat and enjoy the river.
Update June 5: The log reported at Pinhey’s Point has been towed to shore and tied to the Pinhey’s Point dock by a helpful boater Luc Lafreniere. The log has also acquired a name, Mr. Round, courtesy of Luc’s daughter.
A one day Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Radar course is being offered at BYC on Saturday, September 28, 1000-1700, and NSC members are welcome to register.
Our first anchoring clinic for cruising boats was held on July 14, and we were pleasantly amazed by the turnout. Teams from 16 boats enjoyed the technical presentation on how, where and when to anchor. Two of the most entertaining NSC events go on the same weekend in mid-August: Midnight Madness evening of August 16, and Harbourmaster’s Race August 17. And wait, there’s more! More boating events in August, that is.
Thank-you to our volunteers Adam and Kathryn, who diligently engaged a significant number of NSC keelboat owners. The excellent news is that they already knew their dock neighbour. So the feedback is that we do not need to promote a special day, because NSC club fellowship is strong. Therefore, we won’t run this experimental event.
